Why does skin age?

Aging skin and wrinkles result from a combination of many factors. It’s not just about cellular changes, collagen depletion, hormone loss, or damage caused by free radicals. When you concentrate, squint, or frown, the muscles between your brows contract, causing your skin to furrow and fold. What is Botox Cosmetic?

BOTOX® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines. As a simple, nonsurgical treatment, BOTOX® works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes moderate to severe lines to form.

When will I see results from a Botox Cosmetic Treatment?

Within days, you may see a marked improvement in the moderate-to-severe frown lines. Lines continue to improve for up to 30 days, and results can last for up to 4 months. Individual results may vary.

How long does Botox Cosmetic Last?

Visible results have been shown to last up to 4 months. Your own results may vary. If you do not continue treatments, the moderate-to-severe frown lines will gradually return to the way they looked before treatment.

Is Botox Cosmetic Treatment Painful?

Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. Prior to injection, we may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. Most patients are in and out of the office without downtime following BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment.

Will is still be able to make facial expression?

Although the results are visible, a treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you’ve “had work done.” The muscle activity that causes frown lines is temporarily reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases.

Does BOTOX® Cosmetic have side effects?

Side effects are rare, but can include localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising.

How does it work?

Young, healthy-looking skin contains an abundance of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). But as you age, sunlight and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin. Understanding Where Wrinkles Come From

Your skin consists of two layers known as the epidermis and the dermis. The epidermis, or outer layer of the skin, acts as the skin’s primary defense against the environment. The dermis, or innermost layer of the skin, is composed primarily of connective tissue and provides the skin with a support network. Most facial wrinkles and deeper nasolabial folds occur within the dermal layer of the skin.

Does JUVÉDERM® XC have side effects?

JUVÉDERM® XC injectable gel is generally well tolerated. Most side effects are mild to moderate in nature and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injection site reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are generally biocompatible, which means allergy skin testing is not required prior to treatment.
