Chemical Peel – To lessen fine line and improve sun-damaged skin, a series of non-aggressive “lunch-time” glycolic peels can provide very pleasing results.
Deeper TCA peels are also available to create a completely fresh skin surface. Being somewhat more aggressive than the glycolic peels, TCA peels produce a startling result – equal to the more expensive “laser resurfacing”.
Microdermabrasion -- It is the most natural way to evenly and safely exfoliate the skin without chemicals or laser. Microdermabrasion utilizes crystals to finely resurface superficial layers of the skin. Accent XL-This relatively new skin tightening system is a much advanced technology over "Thermage". The improvements with the use of radiofrequency energy makes for a very effective and noticable result. We are excited with this addition to our practice. Unlike Thermage, the Accent XL does not cause intolerable pain.
Pixel-This is a laser that dives deep below the skin surface to remodel the structures that give skin its strength and tone returning to a more youthful appearance. The repair of the skin is dramatic and sequential with a series of treatments. Patients leave the office with some short lasting pink color on their face.
Harmony-With the use of this light pulse technology, brown spots from sun damage and aging are erased from the face, chest, hands and any areas exposed to the sun.

What has modern medicine learned about the care and conditioning of facial skin?
The Europeans are far ahead of us in regard to being educated on what is available to enhance the health of their skin.
Five basic principles are all that is needed to get started and anything more aggressive such as laser resurfacing or face lifts should not be considered until a motivated patient first completes one of our programs. Briefly the five principles are:
1. Hydration- Using the correct moisturizers and drinking six to eight glasses of water per day is an essential component for damaged skin to heal. Dry skin is prone to age faster. 2. Collagen Stimulation - Collagen is the key structural element to skin support. It's growth and conditioning can be stimulated with the use of Microdermabrasion and newly patented creams. 3. Neutralization of free radicals - Damaged skin cells release a natural destructive chemical called free radicals that exacerbates the breakdown of neighboring cells. Vitamin C in a potent, stable prescription form has recently been proven to neutralize or weaken free radicals and thus offset the aging process. 4. Penetration of all of the above medications deep into the skin - Can now be accomplished with Microdermabrasion combined with glycolic acid peels. These modalities physically strip off the dead superficial layer of skin thus ridding the barrier to the penetration of the healing agents mentioned. 5. Avoidance of sun to prevent solar damage - Use of SPF's of 30 or more is highly recommended. Stay away from tanning salons, but may use good quality self-tanning products. We, at New England Cosmetic Surgery are proud that we have introduced our facial rejuvenation program. Young and older skin all benefit from this regimen.
